I’m a big fan of grain bowls and this Tahini Yogurt Sauce is one of my all-time favorite dressings to use. Tangy and refreshing with a kick of herby flavor from the fresh dill. It’s great on grilled, roasted, and sauteed veggies as well as most proteins. Toss it in a wrap for lunch or drizzle it on top of a sheet pan dinner for a quick weeknight meal or meal prep.
How to Make Tahini Yogurt Sauce
The process for this recipe is super simple; just combine the yogurt, garlic, dill, mint, lemon juice, cumin, paprika, and salt in a bowl. If you have an immersion blender, Vitamix, or food processor you can simply Mix until fully combined and it’s ready to drizzle on your favorite veggies and proteins.
Using a Blender or Food Processor
This recipe can even be trimmed down to a few basic ingredients. As long as you have yogurt, dill, and garlic, you’ll have a delicious, versatile sauce for dinner or meal prep. You could also experiment with other spices like sumac, oregano, thyme, etc. depending on what it’s going on.
What to Make with Tahini Yogurt Sauce
Tahini Yogurt Sauce is a Middle-Eastern condiment seen in various forms throughout the region. You can find it with yogurt, or just tahini sauce drizzled on Falafel, Shawarma, served with mezze. Mezze is a term for appetizers, usually served with fresh and pickled vegetables, cheese, nuts, and bread (also known as Meze in Greece). One of my favorite mezze dishes is Menemen, a hot egg dish served in Turkey made with tomatoes, cheese, sausage (traditionally sujuk), and spicy peppers. It’s so good, especially with a fluffy piece of bread!
Proteins – Grilled, Roasted, or Braised
Although this sauce goes great with nearly anything you smother it with, it’s exceptionally good with meat dishes. It creates a welcomed balance by cuts through the richness of grilled and braised meats. Yogurt is very acidic so it makes for a nice contrast with fatty or heavy meat dishes. Same goes for bean dishes cooked with lots of healthy olive oil.
Here are some foods that go great with tahini yogurt sauce:
- Grilled, roasted, or braised protein and vegetables
- Fresh and pickled veggies as an appetizer
- Beans and legumes
- Buddha Bowls
- Wraps
- Falafel
- Salad
- Air-fried veggie fries
Try it with Za’atar Roasted Cauliflower or Menemen (Turkish Breakfast Scramble).
